Mystery solved! Gwyneth Paltrow is not a physician

The mystery has been solved. The Terribly Write blog post just before this one showed the mashup of a photo of Ms. Paltrow with a headline about doctors. Well, the writer for Yahoo! Shine corrected the error. Or at least corrected the photo and accompanying teaser:

Of course, the “correction” omitted the hyphens in the adjective out-of-date as well as some other word or two. Oh, well. It’s only the Internet, and Yahoo!’s readers have probably resigned themselves to the errors that appear there every day.

Is your writing out-of-date?

Is your doctor out-of-date? If your doctor is Gwyneth Paltrow, you have more to worry about than antiquated info:

OK. I confess, I know this headline from Yahoo! Shine is wrong. It has nothing to do with Ms. Paltrow. It’s just an unfortunate, irrelevant, and humorous goof that also happens to be devoid of the hyphens in the adjective out-of-date.

Put down those weapons!

It’s just a deadly weapon. That’s it. Just one weapon, not the two or more implied by this typo on Yahoo! Movies:

Extending a little more effort

The writer of this photo caption on Yahoo! omg! should have extended a little more effort and come up with the right word:

There’s an amazing article on Yahoo! Shine. Amazing in the variety and number of sloppy errors one writer can make and inflict on the public. From the overly punctuated quotations here:

WTF? How does the writer not see this little bit of HTML when proofreading?

Silly me. Clearly the writer doesn’t proofread, because if she did, she’d notice that this is the wrong word:

Injecting a little humor, the writer continues with the slop:

Not that this is the worst error ever, but a missing article here makes the whole sentence a tad awkward:

Poor Dad. He’s deserving of a capital letter here:

Humor again! I love it! The writer was hoarding the hilarious homophonous errors, but is sharing them with the reader:

This slippery slop may just get the writer a jump-start on reconsidering her career choice:

One possible explanation: This was found on Yahoo! Shine and its standards don’t require accuracy from its writers.
