I’m loath to point out yet another error on Yahoo! Shine, but I loathe this error:
Loath means “reluctant”; loathe means “to dislike.”

Which brings me to the subject of my telling people not to use “loath” for reluctant and actually use the damn word “reluctant” instead. And reserve “loathe” for those rare, rare occasions when “dislike” won’t do. In the UK, we use “hate and detest” for “loathe.”

Good advice. Why not use a word everyone (except maybe the writers at Yahoo!) understands, like “reluctant,” instead of one that’s obviously a source of confusion?
