Wary of reading, weary of errors

Do you ever get weary due to the number of errors you read online? Are you wary of anything you read on Yahoo! Movies? Me, too!

Apparently investors were tired because Westerns (it gets a cap W when it refers to the movie genre) were unpopular. Maybe they were wary, too, because they were distrustful of Westerns.

I’m wary of writers who write “weary” when they mean “wary.” Does the writer literally think these investors were tired? Because, you know, it’s pretty tiring to watch someone else make a movie.

It’s apparently a fairly common mistake — using “weary” for “wary” — though I’d never seen it before. But, until I started this blog about the mistakes on Yahoo, I had never read about something being “pulled taught” or about women making “caddy remarks.” The writers’ and editors’ ignorance of English is astounding to me.
