A sight for sore eyes

What’s the site of your image? The mirror over your bathroom sink?

Wherever it is, the site of your image is where you’ll catch sight of your image.

That homophonic error is from Yahoo! Shine, a site known (at least to me and regular readers of Terribly Write) for its writers’ errors. I am saddened by the fact that there’s at least one other horrific error — this time a ridiculous allegation:

I had an online argument a long time ago with someone who was talking about his “web sight”. I tried to explain what it was a “site”, = “location”, and that a “sight” was something you looked at, usually in nature. He replied, “well, they look at my web sight, don’t they?”. Some causes are truly lost.

With an incredible exercise of will power, I’ll resist talking about the content.

PS: I thought Dove was an ice cream.

Dove is also a soap or “beauty bar” as the manufacturer is wont to say. I would cite a source — possibly a web site — but I think you can trust me on that.

That’s a relief. I was having a hard time dealing with the concept of putting ice cream on my face.
