Distracting your readers

If you’re unsure of your writing ability, but you’re a professional writer, you might try this little trick from Yahoo! News‘ “Prep Rally”: Distract your readers from your own shortcomings by posting a picture of someone else’s mistakes:

Distract your readers from your inability to differentiate a contraction (like it’s) from a possessive pronoun (like its):

Distract your readers from your typos (like typing by instead of why) and your love of incorrect hyphens:

Distract your readers from your continued use of it’s instead of its, your ignorance of history (it was World War II that was fought in the 1940s), and your failure to capitalize a proper noun:

Hmmm. After that, the typo in the picture doesn’t look so bad.
