A historic article

It’s a historic mistake on the Yahoo! front page:

The indefinite article to use before the word historic or historical is a, not an because the H is pronounced. Some words beginning with H, however, take an (an honorable man, an honest woman) because the H is silent.

    I think they still say “an historic” in England – but one might argue that this is not England. It does, though, suggest that the writer may have a British English background – as do may in India.
