There’s a lesson here

There’s a lesson here for every writer and would-be writer. I’m not sure what it is, except maybe, don’t fall into the same trap as the writer for Yahoo! Sports‘ “Prep Rally.” In an article about a high school football game, the writer mistakenly calls one team West Bloomington (the team is actually West Bloomingfield) and the opponent Stoney Brook (in reality, it’s Stoney Creek):

Here’s a guy who’s so confident of his abilities that he doesn’t realize he’s made the same mistake over and over again:

So, if you’re using the same bit of information repeatedly, make sure you get it right the first time, and then you’ll probably get it right every time. Unless you write for Yahoo!.
