That’s a B1G mistake

Is B1G a thing? Does it mean something in the world of college basketball that I’m unaware of? If so, please enlighten me in the comments. While you’re down there commenting’ perchance you can tell me how someone who writes about sports could still be holding a job after misspelling Caris LeVert’s first and last name:

chris lavert sports

Never mind. I almost forgot that this is on Yahoo! Sports and the bar for writing quality and accuracy is kinda low.

I can’t lend any info on the name typo, but B1G is a term used in collegiate sports. It’s a shorthand way of referring to the Big Ten and makes a lot more sense when you see it stamped on the football field (the 1G looks a lot more like a 10 from further away.)

Thanks! I was wondering if it made sense to others. When a writer screws up a name as badly as this writer did (how do you confuse Caris with Chris?), I can’t always trust that something that looks odd is, in fact, OK to most readers. I’ve learned something! Thanks.

What do you think?
