Savannah Guthrie, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Lindsey Graham

Members of Yahoo! News staff attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend and attempted to write about it. Among their many stumbles were the misspellings of names you’d expect real journalists to know — like Savannah Guthrie, journalist, attorney, and co-host of the “Today” show.  But someone has a little trouble with her name:

whcd name 2

Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays the vice president of the U.S. in the TV series “Veep.” I’ll betcha even Dan Quayle could spell her name correctly:

whcd name 1

You’d think real journalists would know how to spell Lindsey Graham’s name; after all, he is a U.S. senator. Maybe the writer was thinking of Lindsay Lohan:

whcd name 3

I suppose if you can’t spell the names of people in the national spotlight, you shouldn’t know the name of cultural icons, like the Tennessee Williams play “A Streetcar Named Desire.” (The indefinite article A is part of the play’s title.)

Maybe Sen. Graham would have been better in the Stanley Kowalski role……

What do you think?
