Perhaps $900,000,000 is nothing to the writer for Yahoo! Homes, but to the rest of the world, that’s a fortune:
Either the writer is so disgustingly wealthy or she is lacking the arithmetic gene. She wouldn’t be the first Yahoo! writer to screw up a simple arithmetic calculation.

Maybe she meant “almost”. (My trusty calculator says the average price/home wold be about $678,000. I don’t think that’s right.)
As an aside, I’ve read that the City of London (which has been around even longer than Boston) is owned by 8 or 9 families.

You are being too charitable. I don’t think she meant it would “almost” drain him of his entire fortune since nine hundred million dollars is still a substantial amount of money.
