More than dumb

Sometimes I just have to say it: This is one of the dumbest mistakes I’ve seen lately on the Yahoo! front page:

fp atherton

First, let me just explain that there is no Atherton-Menlo High in California. It does not exist. There is, however, a Menlo-Atherton High in the state. But here’s what makes this mistake even more egregious: The “game’s remarkable ending” was accomplished by a player from Menlo School (a private prep school) in Atherton, California. And to compound the stupidity of this mistake, Menlo School and Menlo-Atherton High are both spitting distance (if you can spit about 12 miles) from Yahoo! headquarters.

So, not only do the writers not know much about writing, they don’t know much about the area in which they work. Unless they really are writing from some third-world country.

Don’t move!

I’m so glad they’ve finally made seed-paper that doesn’t move. According to an article on Yahoo! Shine, we tree-huggers will no longer have to chase after that eco-friendly  paper, since it’s now stationary and ain’t goin’ nowhere:

If you’re looking for other stationary items and you’re in Portland, Maine, check out this store:

stationary trav

Yahoo! Travel reports that it sells stationary items, but doesn’t elaborate on what those non-moving items are. Since the store also sells cards, you might look for stationery while you’re there.

Kim Kardashian’s guna

Have you been waiting for pictures of Kim Kardashian’s guna? Me neither. Frankly, I don’t know what a guna is. Whaddya guna say? It’s on the Yahoo! front page, so it’s not surprising it makes no sense:

fp guna if of

Use your imagination

There’s something missing here on Yahoo! News, but I can’t think of a single word that would make this headline anything but tragic:

2 teens news

I guess you’re supposed to supply the missing word or words.
